Waste Reporting : What Information do I need?

Posted on Thursday, 08 July 2010
Part of the Fact Sheets category

Challenging times confront every Waste Authority. State Governments have set tough waste targets and many of these are fast approaching (i.e. 2014). Having accurate data upon which to act is the first part of answering the challenge.

Therefore, knowing how the business is performing is crucial.

To plan for the future, the business needs to ask:

What information do I have?

What information do I need?

What information can I have?

What information would I like to have?

Information is only useable if it is objective and timely.

Therefore, can the business answer the following questions?

  • Can we track bin lifts per shift or vehicle?
  • Can we identify pick up’s and bins by waste type?
  • Can we identify incorrect or double lift bin pick-ups?
  • Can we locate lost or stolen bins?
  • Do we have the ability to capture and assess recycling trends?
  • Do we have the ability to calculate bin participation rates
  • Can we verify contractor data and pay for only those bins presented?
  • Do we have the ability to verify weighbridge weights?
  • Can we differentiate between commercial and domestic bins?
  • Are we able to provide route plans for future replay?
  • Can we identify and optimise routes?
  • Can we see ‘real time’ replays of selected “in field’ events
  • Can we answer public complaints swiftly with objective data including date, time, video, truck & operator details?
  • Can we provide exception reports for management?

If you have answered “NO” to more than three of the above questions, talk to us at Managemate about our WASTEMate Waste Collection & Tracking System (WCTS) because, from as little as 2 cents per pick up* you can start to answer these and other questions.
